BASEBALL: BESTING THE BRAHMAS

The Hornets ended a busy Spring Break on Thursday defeating LA Pierce College 6-0 at home.

After dropping the first game of three to Moorpark on Tuesday, the #1 Hornets defeated Compton on the road 6-1, and then took care of business at home beating LA Pierce.

The non-conference win over LAP now gives FC an overall record of 18-3, while the LA Pierce loss sets them back at 7-16 overall.

The Hornets took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning as David Miranda hit a solo shot over the right field ivy.

Fullerton put another one on the board in the third when Joey Parente took adavantage of a past ball to cross home plate.

In the top of the fourth, FC got into some trouble loading the bases with Brahmas with one out. The Hornets got out of it in impressive fashion turning a 6-4-3 double-play to get out of the inning unscathed. 

The bases were loaded in the fifth with one out. Austin O'Banion approached the plate and hit a shot into the ivy for a ground-rule double scoring Justin Row and Kevin Foley . Shane Carrier added two more hitting a shot down the left line scoring Laine Huffman and O'Banion. By the end of the inning, FC held a 6-0 lead and held it for the rest of the game.

Starting pitcher Anthony Parente (3-0) took the shut-out win throwing 6 innings allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts. Relief pitchers Austin Case, Nick Vega, and Louis Corral each contributed an inning to the shutout allowing only 2 total hits.

Up Next: The Hornets (18-3, 6-0) will resume conference-play on Tuesday, March 29th at Orange Coast College. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
