BASEBALL: HORNETS HURT BY SAC FLY

Fullerton traveled east to Riverside City College on Tuesday to play game one of the three-game OEC series, unfortunately they lost a close one 4-3.

Knotted up at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, RCC's Sean Smith made the difference as he sent one deep to center field, with the bases loaded, enabling Garrison Cole to score the winning run.

Riverside took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Dean Miller hit a hard single to right field scoring Anthony Ward.

The Hornets tied it up at one a piece in the sixth on a single to the left side bringing Austin O'Banion home.

Laine Huffman spearheaded a FC 3-1 lead in the seventh hitting a two-run single that brought Justin Row and Joey Parente across home plate.

The Tigers tied it up in the seventh on a groundout SAC bunt by Garrett McKee scoring Zach Grande. Michael Darr came home on a Hornet error. 

RCC starting sophomore RHP Angel Delgado went the 8 innings allowing three earned runs on 8 hits and 5 walks. Delgado struck out two, but left with a no decision.

Fullerton starting sophomore RHP Randall Ortiz (Fullerton) went 8 solid innings giving up 2 earned runs on 9 hits and 3 walks. He struck out 6 for a no decision.

Up Next: The Hornets (21-7 overall, 9-4 OEC) and Tigers (16-12, 4-9) return to action on Thursday, April 14th, at Hornet Field for the second game of this three-game OEC series. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
