BASEBALL: FC FALLS SHORT IN PITCHING DUEL

The Hornets played game two of the four-game series at home Thursday against Mt. SAC, and they could not generate more than a run losing 5-1.

It was a pitching duel that lasted three hours with both starting pitchers throwing seven strong innings. Neither Fullerton's Justin Schubert (6 hits against with 6 K's) or Mt. SAC's Michael Ortega (6 hits against with 1 K) gave up an earned run, but Ortega earned the win thanks to the Mountie bats generating 12 hits.

Mt. SAC broke up the 0-0 stalemate in the top of the seventh on a SAC fly by Jason Flores to deep center field scoring Joe La Fountain's unearned run.

The Mounties added two runs in the eighth and ninth innings to put the game away.

The Hornet's lone run came in the eighth inning on David Barrios' double to right center field that brought Brian Landon home.

FC hits were had by Matt Darr, David Barrios, Elias Rios, and Sawyer Chesley.

Up Next: Fullerton (6-16 overall) will hit the road this Friday for a doubleheader at Mount San Antonio College this Friday, May 21st. Game times are at 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
