FINISHING OF THE PANTHERS

FINISHING OF THE PANTHERS

The Hornets finished last Friday's halted home game (darkness) against Chaffey College on Tuesday afternoon with a 15-11 victory, and then went on to win the scheduled game against the Panthers 9-2.

It was a good way to finish out the day bumping FC's record to 8-3 overall, while the Panthers now sit at 3-7 overall.

Getting the nod on the mound for today's second game was Joel Martinez (1-0), who locked down his first win of the season going 5 innings. He had 2 earned runs against, no walks, and added 6 strikeouts. Joe Linehan tossed 3 excellent no-hit innings with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Adam Armstrong pitched clean in the game's final inning with no hits, no walks, and 1 strikeout.

The Panthers drew first blood scoring the game's first run in the first inning. Cole Howarth hit a doubled to center field that scored Jared Bujanda.

Fullerton had a big inning in the bottom of the second with 6 runs. Haku Dudoit popped a single to right center plating Jacob McClure scored and Kaipo HaoleIsaiah Marquez knocked a single to left field scoring Dudoit. Garet Crenshaw then doubled to right center Marquez and Jared Benash. Miguel Ortiz ended the inning with a nice single to right field that brought Crenshaw.

FC added a run in the fourth on a fielding error that allowed Haole to safely reach first base, while Ortiz came home.

In the fifth inning Chaffey put up its last run on a Matthew Chavez single to center field that scored Howarth.

Miguel Ortiz chipped in for the Hornet's final 2 runs hitting a SAC fly to deep left field scoring Marquez from third in the sixth, and then he slammed a homerun over the left field ivy that landed on the football field in the eighth.

The game had 26 hits between both teams with Fullerton accumulating 16.

Up Next: Fullerton (8-3 overall) travels to Moorpark College on Thursday, February 17th for another non-conference game at 2:00 pm.
