ROUNDING UP THE RUSTLERS

The Hornet baseball squad executed a three-game sweep over Golden West after beating the Rustlers 7-4 at home Saturday afternoon.

Fullerton took the second game of the series 17-4 at Golden West on Thursday. The win featured a grand slam by Britton Beeson, 3 RBI by Jared Banesh, Diego Franco and Tank Espalin, along with a 6 inning win by Masen McDonnell (4-1). Masen allowed only 2 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and had 5 strikeouts.

The Hornets put the first run on the board in the second inning thanks to Britton Beeson's hard line-drive home run that cleared the left field ivy.

Golden West tied the game up 1-1 in the top of the third when Preston Allen hit a single up the middle giving Nathan Beckley the chance to come home from second base.

A couple of bunts by Jimmy Blumberg and Landon Runge in the fourth inning brought in Isaiah Marquez and Haku Dudoit giving the Hornets a 3-1 lead.

GWC got one across in the sixth inning when Jack Salmon reached on a fielder's choice allowing Ayden Garcia to come home.

The Rustlers tied the game up at 3 apiece in the seventh on Beckley's ground-out to Jimmy Blumberg at short. Adam Baggetta snuck across from third on the throw to first.

In the seventh, the Hornets exploded with 4 runs taking a 7-3 edge. Beeson struck again doubling off the ivy to left center scoring Franco and Niko Santamaria. Dudoit then flied out to center for a, SAC fly that brought in Tank Espalin. Blumberg knocked a single to right field scoring Beeson.

Golden West got a run back in the eighth when Dylan Linda hit a home run over the left field ivy.

Deven Beasley (2-3) held it down for the Hornets earning his second win with 3 hits against, 2 earned runs, had a walk, and 4 K's in 3 innings. Starter Freddy Castaneda threw a solid game going 6 innings with 5 hits against, 2 earned runs, had 2 walks, and a strikeout. 

Up Next: Fullerton (18-16 overall, 6-9 OEC) begins a three-game OEC series at Riverside City College on Tuesday, April 18th. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
