SUPER REGIONALS: FC ELIMINATES EAST LA

No. 13 Hornets eliminate No. 24 East Los Angeles College on Thursday in the SoCal Super Regionals 8-4.

Earlier in the day, No. 17 LA Valley handed East its first loss in the double elimination Super Regional bracket 16-1.

It took a minute for the Fullerton offense to get going managed to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. With the bases loaded, Jared Benash worked the count for a walk forcing Tank Esplain home.

In the top of the sixth, the Hornets had a rough time of it as the Huskies piled on four runs.

Down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, FC cut the lead down with two runs on a Huskie error on a pickoff attempt scoring Isaiah Marquez and Diego Franco.

In the seventh, the Hornets took back the lead for good when Britton Beeson rocked a triple to right center field scoring Tank Espalin. Isaiah Marquez came up next ripping a single up the middle plating Beeson. Haku Dudoit hit a hard single to second base scoring Marquez.

Up 6-4, Fullerton added two more runs in the seventh for good measure. Beeson doubled down the left line scoring Esaplin and Marquez doubled to left scoring Beeson.

FC reliever Vincent Segovia (2-0) earned the win going 2.2 innings with 3 hits, no runs, 1 walk, and 2 K's. Starter Freddy Castaneda tossed 5.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts. Nathan McManus finished it off in the final inning with 1 hit, no earned runs, a walk, and 2 K's.
