LONG BALLS VS. LONG BEACH

The FC baseball squad welcomed Long Beach City College to Hornet Field on Wednesday and took out the Vikings 12-6.

Fullerton struck early scoring two unearned runs in the bottom of the first when Dillon Anderson got on from a LBCC fielding error giving Ryan Kirk the chance to cross home plate. 

The Hornets added two more runs in the third when Trevor Schmidt hammered his fourth home run of the season to deep center that also brought in Britton Beeson

Long Beach scored a run in the top of the fifth on a fielder's choice by Brett Abudayyeh that allowed Luke Davis to go home.

Fullerton pushed its lead to 7-1 heading into the top of the sixth, but the Vikings struck back with a four-run inning that was kicked off with a three-run jack by Luke Davis. Ryan Geck made it back-to-back homers with a solo shot to left field that pulled Long Beach within two at 7-5.

The Hornets had another big inning in the sixth scoring two runs on a Britton Beeson double that scored Jacob Larson and a Dillon Anderson double that plated Kirk and Beeson.

Beeson added another RBI to the stat sheet in the seventh after smacking a single that scored Larson.

Long Beach put up one more run in the eighth inning when Ryan Geck popped a single to right field that scored Reef Danner.

FC tacked up one more insurance run in the bottom of eight thanks to an Andrew Pyle single to center field that plated Anderson.

Earning the start and win was Matt Romero (1-0), who threw a strong 5 innings with 3 hits against, had no earned runs, no walks, and 2 strikeouts. 

Up Next: The Hornets (5-4 overall) will get right back on the field tomorrow (Feb. 15) when Mt. SAC comes to Hornet Field at 1:00 pm.
