SUCCESS VS. SACRAMENTO

After falling in extra innings in the first game 5-4, the Hornets jumped the Panthers in game two 18-6 on Friday and then took the series winning game three on Saturday 17-7.

It was an eventful three-game series with visiting Sacramento City, who traveled well with a nice mix of families and friends. In total, there were 40 runs scored by the Hornets and 17 by the Panthers.

On Friday, the game was tied 4-4 heading into the bottom of the fourth when Britton Beeson hammered a double to left field that scored Diego FrancoTrevor Schmidt followed up with another RBI grounding out to second allowing Noah Rodriguez the chance to home from third.

Up 6-5 after the Panther snuck in a run in a run, the Fullerton offense exploded with 10 runs in the seventh inning breaking the game wide open. The Hornets added two more insurance runs in the eighth before earning the victory.

The FC pitchers held their own holding the Panthers to only one run for the remainder of the contest. Matt Romero threw the first 4 innings (8 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, 1 K) and Peyton Lee earned his first win of the season going 0.2 innings with 1 earned run, a K, and a walk. Ashton McNaughton (1 hit, 1 K), Ryan Coppock (2 hits, 1 earned run), and Troon Eakin (1 hit, 2 Ks, 0 walks) all chipped in with solid efforts.

Multi-hit games were had by Diego Franco (3, 2 RBI), Britton Beeson (3, 6 RBI), Noah Rodriguez (2), and Ryan Kirk (2, 2 RBI).

Saturday's game was another high-scoring event with Fullerton racking up 9 runs in the second and third innings. With the momentum weighing heavily on FC's side, starting pitcher Vincent Segovia kept Sacramento in check for 5.1 innings allowing only a hit, no earned runs, had 2 walks, and 3 Ks. Jared Sawyer, Ethan Harris, Matthew Prieto, and Ryan Franson combined for 3 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and 7 Ks to grab the win.

Britton Beeson was perfect getting on base 5 out of 5 times with 3 hits, walked twice, had 5 RBI, 3 runs. Dillon Anderson had 2 hits, 2 RBI, a run, and a walk. Diego Franco had 1 hit, 3 runs, 2 RBI, and a walk. 

Up Next: The Hornets (8-6 overall) get back on the road and face off with Southwestern College on February 27th at 1:00 pm.
