HORNETS TAKE DOWN BAKERSFIELD IN EXTRAS

The FC baseball squad eventually got it done in ten innings at home Thursday beating Bakersfield College 9-8.

Fullerton owned a healthy 5-0 lead heading into the fourth, but the Renegades started to rally back scoring two runs on Luis Fuentes single to left field that plated Ryan Morales and Adan Rivera.

FC made it 7-2 in the fifth when Diego Franco doubled to left center scoring Andrew PyleJacob Larson later scored on a balk.

Bakersfield did not back down in the sixth as Isaac Torres hit a two-run homer over the left field ivy cutting the Hornets lead down 7-4.

The Hornets added a run in the bottom sixth when Andrew Pyle came across on a called balk.

Still, the Renegades would not go away scoring four runs in the seventh to tie the game up 8-8.

The two teams battled it out until the bottom of the tenth when Fullerton got a run through on a Bakersfield throwing error that gave Wyland Barron the chance to go home for the win.

FC starter tossed a solid 5-inning game allowing 5 hits with 3 earned runs, had 2 walks and 4 Ks. Ryan Franson was good for 3 innings with 3 hits, no runs, 1 walk, and 3 Ks. Andrew Carren (2-1) earned the win with an inning of work, had no hits, no walks, and a strikeout.

Landon Runge and Trevor Schmidt had 3 hits each. Schmidt added a run and 3 RBI. Noah Rodriguez had 2 hits and 2 walks with a run and RBI. Diego Franco also had 2 hits with a walk and RBI.

Up Next: The Hornets (11-6 overall) will turn around and play Bakersfield on the road tomorrow (Friday, March 1) for game two of the series. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
