HORNET FOOTBALLERS GOING PLACES
With signing day happening this past week across the country, 8 Hornet football players have signed deals so far with more being announced in the coming days.
The FC football coaching staff has its work cut out this offseason in recruiting with 3 star linebackers moving on. Freshman Isaac Hurtado was quickly snatched up by the Univeristy of Colorado. There were other PAC 12 colleges courting him as well as he is an extraordinary athlete that can make plays on both sides of the ball. Another freshman in Zach Brogden was picked up by Boise State. Brogden is a high-intensity athlete that will do well with the Broncos. Sophomore Junior Wily singed with Wagner along with Hornet running back Branden Rankins (12 rushing touchdowns). The Seahawks are getting two very gifted athletes that will deliver on game day. FC will miss another running back in Devin Moore as he signed his letter of intent with Western New Mexico. Moore has speed and agility and will be a welcomed addition to the Mustang football team.
Two defensive lineman who will be missed next season are Jason Wallace and Sean Morris. Wallace signed with Fort Hays and is a powerhouse on the interior line. Sean Morris will be playing for Morgan State this fall and will be a force for the Bears.
So far, the Hornets are only losing one reciever in the bunch, but there will be a few more ready to sign soon. Koi Thomas signed with the University of San Diego this week. The Toreros are getting a solid pass catcher with excellent speed.
"It's always a pleasure to watch these young men succeed on and off the field. Hitting goals is what it's all about, and these guys accomplished a big one in getting to a four-year college. I know that if they keep working as hard as they have, these young men will have success at the next level and beyond", Hornet Coach Garrett Campbell.
