THE CHAMPS HAUL IN THE AWARDS

The SCFA National Southern coaches met for a few hours earlier in the week and the champion Hornets raked in the All-Conference awards.

It has been quite a season for the undefeated Fullerton College football team as the Hornets opened the season playing on its own field for the first time in over 100 years. Playing on Sherbeck Field has brought a sense of community back to the program and it's paying off with a very successful season under head coach Garrett Campbell.

"I'm extremely happy for all these guys! We had more of our student-athletes get votes but not enough to make the team. It's just a credit to the work these young men put in all year round. But it's also a credit to their teammates who push them constantly to be the best. Playing on our own campus has been very beneficial to our success as well. Being able to host games, and now a playoff game next week, we've all noticed an uptick in the community and campus energy", said Coach Campbell.

Winning the National Southern Conference title for the second straight season put the Hornets in the lead position earning 18 total awards, including the Defensive Player of the Year nod to Branson Tita-Nwa. The FC defense has a prideful history of claiming the Defensive MVP with many in the last nine seasons winning the award. Tita-Nwa follows some great players in Thomas Cletcher (2015), Justin Parcells (2016), Montre Bonner (2017), Joey Noble (2018), and Josh Tarango (2019).

Coach Campbell earned back-to-back Coach of the Year honors.
