SAILING PAST PIRATES

SAILING PAST PIRATES

The No. 1 FC men's basketball team took on Porterville College at home Tuesday night and outmaneuvered the Pirates 77-47.

The win puts the Hornets at 2-0 on the young season, while the Porterville loss put the team at 1-2 overall.

Fullerton turned it on early in this non-conference matchup taking a 8-2 lead from the opening tipoff, however the Pirates pulled within a point of FC 11-10 by the 12:19 mark. FC pushed ahead with a 17-8 run that was wrapped up with a deep three by Amound Anderson. By the time both teams broke for halftime, FC owned a 28-18 lead.

In the second half, the Hornets flexed a little muscle extending their lead at 44-29 that was capped off by a three-pointer by Godfrey Little. Right after, Jaden Byers stole the ball and drove it up for a layup and was fouled. He hit the free-throw for the three-point play. Continuing to separate themselves from the Pirates, FC grabbed its largest lead of the game (34) with just a minute left in the game.

FC outshot Porterville 52.7% to 36.4% and controlled the ball well with only 9 turnovers to the Pirate's 18.

Jaden Byers had a good night off the bench leading FC with 16 points. Addy G'Bye put up 14, Amound Anderson scored 13, and Christian Watson dropped in 11.
