BOUNCING THE BOBCATS

The No. 2 Hornets went down to Saddleback College for another Orange Empire Conference game on Thursday night and bounced past the Bobcats 91-70.

FC moved up a spot in the CCCMBCA state rankings after securing the number one spot in the Orange Empire Conference, while winning the last two games in double digits over Orange Coast and Irvine Valley.

Fullerton let it rip in the opening minutes of the game taking an 18-3, but Saddleback stayed the course with its game plan and pulled within three points (23-20) by the eighth minute on a dunk by Malachi Hyers. By 5:38, the Bobcats tied the game up 28-28, but the Hornets ran away with the rest of the half with as 17-8 run that gave FC a halftime advantage of 45-36.

The Hornets took complete control of the game in the second half with another big run (14-4) that was capped by a three-pointer by RJ Banks at 15:27. With just under eight minutes left in the game Fullerton took a 20-point lead (77-57) that was highlighted by a Jaden Byers dunk. The Hornets maintained a 20-point lead for the remainder of the contest securing the win.

Christian Watson was the scoring leader in this one with 22 points. He also swiped the ball for 7 steals and had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Amound Anderson II and JQ Strong both totaled 16 points. Jeremiah Davis put up 9 points, had 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. RJ Banks dropped in 8 points with 5 boards and 2 assists. Jaden Byers put up 7 points and Alex Archer contributed 6.
