M. SOCCER: 5 GOAL VICTORY

The Hornet soccer team pulled off another shutout win on Sunday beating Lake Tahoe 5-0.

It was a good bounce-back win after Fullerton took their first loss of the season on Friday night to Richland College 2-0 to open up the Nike/Azteca Tournament at Mt. San Antonio College. The Richland Thunderducks completed their a second title three-peat this past year winning the NJCAA Championship a total of nine times in 20 seasons.

The Tahoe game saw the Hornets score early in the 20th minute on a goal by Ryan Meinardus (assist by Nima Ahmari). FC scored the second goal of the game in the 35th minute when Josh Espinoza fed Rogelio Silva, who punched the ball into the back of the net. Five minutes later, Givanni Marsh hit paydirt with an assist coming from Jazey Zavala. Josh Espinoza took the assist from DJ Westwood to put the Hornets up 4-0 in the 75 minute. Espinoza added another assist to his stat-line sending the ball to Eduardo Ramirez for the fifth and final goal in the 80th minute.

The win over Lake Tahoe was the second shutout of the season for FC Goalie Andres Ramirez who got the nod in the box locking up 3 saves.
