DEFLECTING LASERS

DEFLECTING LASERS

The No. 1 FC men's soccer team earned some revenge on the road Tuesday defeating Irvine Valley College 3-2.

So far this season, the Lasers have been the only team to put a blemish on the Fullerton's Orange Empire Conference record after tying the Hornets 3-3 on September 29th. With Tuesday's win over IVC, FC remains undefeated in the OEC at 8-0-1. Irvine Valley still holds tough in second place with a record of 4-1-4.

The Lasers struck first with an unassisted goal by Ivan Lopez in the 20th minute of the game taking a 1-0 lead.

Nearly 20 minutes later, Fullerton tied the game up when Misael Gonzalez knocked in an unassisted goal. In the 48th minute, Gonzalez did it again with the assist coming from Hayden Kenny. The goal was Misael's 19th of the season, which leads the state.

Sean Callahan helped put a button on the match kicking in an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute giving the Hornets a 3-1 advantage.

Late in the game, IVC's Ivan Lopez booted in his second goal of the day after taking the assist from Grant Miller.

Fullerton maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the match playing physical defense on the wet/soggy field getting out with muddied uniforms and the win.

Mario Floriano got the start in the box for the Hornets and had 4 saves.

Up Next: The Hornets (15-1-1 overall, 8-0-1 OEC) will host another big OEC game this Friday night (Oct. 27th) when Santa Ana College comes to Sherbeck Field at 6:00 pm.  $8 Adults - $5 12 & under - Free with FC Student ID.
