SEALED & DELIVERED: BACK-TO BACK OEC CHAMPS!

It was Sophomore Day and the No. 1 Hornets honored it by locking up the Orange Empire Conference title with a 3-0 victory over Santiago Canyon College.

Fullerton (10-0-2 conference) clinched the OEC Championship outright with two games left in the regular season holding a three-game lead over second place Irvine Valley College (6-1-5), who tied with Santa Ana 1-1 today. The Hornets have been crowned the OEC champs four out of the past five seasons since Head Coach Greg Aviles took over the program. Altogether, FC has won six conference titles (1981, 1992, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) since the program began in 1976.

Misael Gonzalez scored the first goal of the game from an assist by Alexis Tamayo and shot from 8-yards out at the 28th minute. Misael took the ball from midfield and drove the ball down for his state-leading 23rd goal.

FC went up 2-0 in the 55th minute when Angel Sevillano knocked in the ball in from a header off the throw-in assist by Nathan Giles.

Juan Luis Quintana got in on the action in the 68th minute to put the game away scoring on another header. Carlos Toral was credited with the assist.

FC goalie Mario Floriano got the start and had two saves earning his 4th shutout of the year.

After the game, the Hornet sophomores were recognized for their hard work and dedication over the past two seasons. Misael Gonzalez, Brian Aragon, Mario Floriano, Jonathan Ortiz, Aldo RamirezAlexis TamayoAngel Sevillano, Diego Duenas, Sean CallahanIan Becerra-Scott, and Devin Villegas were all honored by the FC coaching staff.

Up Next: The No. 1 in state Hornets (17-1-2 overall, 10-0-2 OEC) will travel down the 91 Freeway to play at Cypress College for another OEC game on Tuesday, November 7th at 3:00 pm.
