FINAL OEC MATCH A VICTORY

FINAL OEC MATCH A VICTORY

In the final regular season game, the Hornets set it off with a 4-1 win over OEC rival Golden West College on Thursday afternoon.

It was not the greatest week for the Orange Empire Conference champions after suffering their first conference loss at Cypress College on Tuesday. Thursday's win, however, helped erase any concerns as the team is healthy and running on all cylinders.

Fullerton took a 1-0 lead in the first five minutes of the match when Kenny Hayden knocked in his 5th goal of the year.

In the 28th minute, it was Omar Ruiz's turn as he blasted an unassisted shot past the Rustler's goalie for his second score on the season.

Gold West got on the board early in the second half on an unassisted shot by Jesus Melgoza.

Misael Gonzalez kicked in his 24th goal after taking the feed from Hayden Kenny in the 72nd minute. Misael is the state leader in goals scored with San Diego City's Isaac Velasquez following right behind at 22.

Ricardo Michel finished off the game with his first goal of the season in the 89th minute with the assist coming from Thomas Gomez.

Hornet goalie Mario Floriano got the start in the box going 45 minutes with 5 saves. Jonathan Ortiz finished off the second half and had 1 save.
