STUNNED HORNETS FALL IN 1ST ROUND

Tied 2-2 after regulation-play and two overtime periods, it all came down to penalty kicks between No. 15 Santa Barbara City College and No. 2 Fullerton College with the Vaqueros stunning the Hornets to move on to the second round of the SoCal Regionals. 

The first half ended in a 0-0 tie as both teams battled it out with solid defense and physical play as a few players went down with injuries with some fighting off leg cramps. 

In the second half, the match turned into an all-out dogfight with Miseal Gonzalez kicking in the first goal nearly eight minutes in. Not to be outdone, Santa Barbara City tied the game up a minute later on Haru Ito's deep-shot from 20-yards out. Gonzalez booted in his 27th goal of the year putting the Hornets up 2-1 at the 52-minute mark. The Vaqueros knotted the game up at 2 apiece after Sebastian Rodriguez knocked the ball in from a penalty kick rebound.

The game remained scoreless through two overtime periods, and the match came down to penalty kicks. After a series of hits and misses, Santa Barbara's Uli Sevilla kicked in the final shot ending Fullerton's fantastic season.
