HORNET TRACK SEASON BEGINS

It was a pleasant season opener for the Hornet track team as they traveled up to Bakersfield for the Battle of the Regions. Sophomore Vitto Collier was a workhorse in the field competing in all four throwing events.

Collier won both the Shot Put (42-4.25) and the Discus (122-00) and took 4th place in both the Hammer Throw (111-07) and the Javelin (143-9). Teammate Michael Pongco was 5th in the Javelin (132-0).

Freshman Vincent Navarro stepped up in his first college Long Jump competition and won the event with a jump of 21-6.25.

Freshman Peyton Kilheffer, an intermediate hurdler, stepped up to the 800m and took 3rd overall with a time of 2:00.44.

The relay team of Peyton Kilheffer, Victor Martinez, Damian Yepez, and Samuel Okerson also had a decent opener taking 3rd in 3:30.21.
