HORNETS WIN THE FINAL MATCH

The FC men's volleyball squad finished the 2024 season with a conference win at home Wednesday night knocking off Santiago Canyon College 3-1.

It was Sophomore Night for the Hornets, who have three second-year players that were honored before the game by the FC coaching staff. The sophomores that were recognized for their dedication and effort in the classroom and on the court were Alex Gaustella, Sebastian Acosta, and Alex Lucero.

In the first set, both teams were neck and neck battling it out to a 19-19 tie. The Hornets jumped ahead 21-19 thanks to a solo block by Caden Smith. FC finished it 25-22 from Sebastian Acosta's kill. Fullerton remained hot in the second set taking a 14-7 lead, but the Hawks came flying back to pull within one (19-18). With the game tied 25-25, FC pulled off the victory snatching the next two points on a kill by Alex Guastella and a SCC kill attempt that sailed out of bounds. Santiago Canyon went ahead early in the third set with a 13-8 advantage and kept the Hornets off balance before ultimately taking it 25-17. The fourth and final set belonged to Fullerton as the team pushed ahead 25-18 win.

Alex Guastella brought his best for sophomore night with career-best 23 kills, had 10 digs, and 4 aces. Noah Spelman brought down 15 kills with 8 digs, while Evan Shank delivered 49 assists and had 7 digs. Sebastian Acosta had 6 kills and Caden Smith also chipped in with 5.
