M. CROSS COUNTRY: VARGAS GOING TO STATE!

The Hornets ran at Mile Square Park for the Southern California Regional Championships last Friday with a positive result.

Ivan Vargas finished 35th overall (20:57) out of 172 runners qualifying for the State Championship race on Saturday, November 20th.

The course was more like a road race very flat, sidewalks, and winding the perimeter of the park. As a team, the Hornets finished 18th out of 25 teams. The team did not qualify for state, however good individual performances came from Cyrus Burton (22:21), Orion Chavatipon (24:24), Trent Snyder (24:27), Jack Martinez (24:38) and Isaac Olivas (26:33).

"We are a young team and good talent. Having this year under our belt and coming out of the pandemic gives these men the experience of running competitively at the college level and a better understanding of what we need to do for next year," replied Coach Bevec.

Up Next: The CCCAA Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno at 11:00 am.
