THE STATELY RACE

The State Cross Country Championships were held at the traditional Woodward Park in Fresno last Saturday with the Hornet's Steven Castro serving as a finalist.

A sophomore Kinesiology major, Castro ran the state course last year and knew the race he wanted to run. Despite quirky weather conditions, the race was on as 181 runners hit the starting line ready to race. Steven's first mile timed out at 5:10 and his next two miles were right on target. He finished with his best time of 22:43:29 for 125th place overall.

Castro has been the team leader for the Hornets having another successful season. Preparing for the upcoming track & field season, he has also been awarded the All-Academic Student Scholar Award, achieving over a 3.50 G.P.A.
