STUNNED BY DONS

In an Orange Empire Conference game, the Hornets hosted Santa Ana College on Saturday and stumbled in a tight game 3-2.

The rain has taken its toll on the FC softball team postponing games and backing up the schedule. Saturday's game against the Dons was a make-up from February 24th. The Hornets have many more games to make up forcing the team play 20 games in the next 28 days. If there is one team that will come out better from all the game-action, it is Fullerton.

FC now moves to second place (6-2) in conference-play just a game back from Cypress, who is 11-1. Santa Ana now slips into the third place slot at 7-5 in the OEC.

The Dons took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Sierra Griego singled to right field scoring to runners in Jayleena Perez and Nyah Veals.

FC got one on the board in the bottom of the second thanks to a single to right field by Caitlyn Stear that scored Alyssa Garcia.

Alyssa Caulford tied the game up for the Hornets in the fourth inning when she hit a sacrifice fly to right plating Haley Perez.

Santa Ana's Alyssa Armijo put her team ahead for good in the fifth inning on a single that snuck through the right-side giving Brittany Van Sickle the opportunity to come home.

Despite the loss, Dallas Garcia (3-2) threw a solid 5 innings with 7 hits, 3 earned runs, had 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Allyson Fuentes came in for 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 0 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

Up Next: Fullerton (13-5 overall, 6-2 OEC) will host another Orange Empire Conference game on Monday, April 3rd at 3:00 pm.
