MARCHING FORWARD TO ROUND 2

The No. 5 Hornets swept past No. 12 College of the Canyons 5-1 on Saturday advancing the team to the 2nd Round of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals.

Starting FC pitcher Allyson Fuentes (21-8) was dominate in the circle throwing a no-hitter through sixth innings for her 21st win on the season.

Fullerton took an early 1-0 advantage in the second inning. Alyssa Caulford hit the ball to deep left field reaching first on a Cougar error allowing Serina Vue to go home.

In the third, the Hornets added two more runs on an errant throw at second that brought in Jordan Elias, and another COC error scored Garcia.

FC went up 5-0 in the fourth when Meah Almaraz hit a hard single up the middle plating Jordan Elias and Coco Siono.

Canyons broke up Allyson Fuentes' no-no in the seventh Julia Fuentes doubled up the middle scoring Schalyn Rhambo.

Fuentes finished the game off throwing a complete game 2-hitter with 1 earned run against, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Fullerton had 8 hits on the day with Jordan Eilias and Meah Almaraz racking up 2 hits apiece.

Up Next: The Hornets (28-13-1 overall) move on to the 2nd Round of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals (Best of three series). Game one will be on Friday, May 12th when FC travels down the 91 Freeway to take on No. 4 Cerritos College at 2:00 pm. Game two will be on Saturday, May 13th at noon. Game three (if needed) will follow soon after.
