GAME ONE OF THE SUPER REGIONALS - A HORNET VICTORY

On the road at No. 4 Cerritos College for game one of the Super Regionals, the No. 5 FC softball squad took care of business beating the Falcons 8-3 on Friday.

FC fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second when Maddy Guillen hit a SAC fly to center field giving Miranda Diaz the opportunity to go home from third.

Fullerton snatched 2-1 lead in the top of the third. With two outs, Jordan Elias crushed a double to left center field scoring Cassidy HornungMeah Almaraz then knocked a single to left center giving Elias the chance to score from second.

The Hornets blew up in the sixth inning with 6 runs distancing themselves with a big 8-1 lead. Alyssa Caulford reached first on a Falcon throwing error and Alyssa Garcia went home, Hornung singled to left field scoring Alendy Aguilar and a fielding error on the play scored Caulford. Jordan Elias then hit a single to the pitcher and another error brought in a run. Olivia Nunez capped off the inning with a deep double to left center that brought in Almaraz and Elias.

Cerritos managed two runs in the sixth, but the damage was done. Diaz doubled to right center plating Brooklyn Bedolla and Marley Manalo.

Fullerton College accumulated 9 hits to Cerritos' 7. Three Hornets had multi-hit games in Jordan Elias (3/double), Meah Almaraz (2), and Cassidy Hornung (2).

FC starter Allyson Fuentes (22-8) tossed another complete game with 3 earned runs, had a walk, and 2 K's.

Up Next: Fullerton (29-13-1) will be back at Cerritos College for game two of the three-game series on Saturday, May 13th at 12:00 pm. Game three (if needed) will follow at 2:00 pm.
