HORNET SEASON ENDS AT SUPER REGIONALS

HORNET SEASON ENDS AT SUPER REGIONALS

The Hornet softball team's season came to an end on Saturday after falling to Cerritos College 4-1 and 6-2 in the SoCal Super Regional Playoffs.

FC won the first game of the three-game series on Friday 8-3, but the timely hits did not go FC's way in games two and three.

Game Two
The first game of the day on Saturday began well enough as Alyssa Garcia put the Hornets on the board with a solo jack over center field in the second inning.

Up 1-0, the Falcons tied it up in the third when Jazmine Macias doubled to center field scoring Alyssa Capps.

Cerritos took a 2-1 advantage in the fourth on Brooklyn Bedolla solo homer that sailed over right field.

Adding two more runs in the sixth, the Falcons walked away with the 4-1 win.

Unable to generate any offense after the second inning homer, the Hornets were limited to just four hits in the game.

FC Pitcher Allyson Fuentes went 6 innings with 7 hits, 2 earned runs, walked one, and had 5 strikeouts.

Game Three
Although the Hornets had more hits in game three with 8, the team could only get two across leaving 7 runners stranded.

Cerritos took a 3-0 lead after the third inning, but Fullerton scored a run in the third and fourth innings.

Down 3-2 into the seventh, the Falcons took control of the game with three runs for a 6-2 finish.

It was a successful season for the Hornets who ended up with an overall record of 29-15-1 and a conference record of 16-5 (2nd place). The last time the team made it to the Super Regionals was in 2019.
