HARD-FOUGHT OPENER

HARD-FOUGHT OPENER

The Hornets welcomed Mt. SAC to campus on Wednesday for the season/home opener and lost a close one 3-0.

Fullerton held the Mounties scoreless through the first four innings with starter Allyson Fuentes tossing a two-hit game.

All of the damage from the Mounties happened in the fifth inning when Janis Espinoza singled through the left side scoring Katie Griego. Alyssa Rubalcava then popped another one through the left side plating Emily Bechtel, and Mercedes Alba knocked a single to left field allowing Audrey White to come home.

First-year FC pitcher Macy Brandl took the loss going three solid innings with 5 hits against, 3 runs, and a strikeout.

Five hits were had by the Hornets as Jordan Elias, Coco Siono, Veronica Moore, Serina Vue, and Miranda Pozos contributed offensively.

Up Next: The Hornets (0-1 overall) are supposed to play a double-header this Friday, February 2nd at home against Antelope Valley (12pm, 2pm), however the incoming storm may put a halt to the games. Stay tuned.
