BLASTING PAST COMETS

The No. 12 in state FC softball squad hosted No. 3 Palomar College on Friday afternoon and handed the Comets their first loss of the season with an 8-1 effort.

Fullerton was its 6th straight game pumping the overall record to 6-2, while Palomar takes its first loss with an overall record of 8-1.

Hornet pitcher Allyson Fuentes (2-1) was outstanding with no walks and 4 Ks allowing only one run on 4 hits in 7 innings of work.

FC went up 1-0 in the first inning when Coco Siono knocked a single to center field scoring Haley Garcia

In the third inning, Fullerton took a 4-0 lead when Veronica Moore reached on a fielder's choice allowing Jordan Elias to go home, Garcia scored on a passed ball, and Serina Vue popped a single through the right side plating Milene Mendoza.

The Hornets made it 6-0 in the fourth thanks to a Veronica Moore rip to left field scoring Elias and Cassidy Hornung.

Palomar snuck in a run in the fifth inning on Kayla Visser's ground out giving Itzell De Los Rios the chance to score from third.

Fullerton put the game to bed in the sixth adding two more runs when Haley Garcia hit a SAC fly to right allowing Peyton Babineau to score and Veronica Moore locked down her second single Cassidy Hornung.

In all, FC collected 12 hits to Palomar's 4, while five Hornets had a two-hit game in Jordan Elias, Haley Garcia, Veronica Moore, Coco Siono, and Cassidy Hornung.

Up Next: The Hornets (6-2 overall) will have to do it all over again next week when they travel to Palomar College on Saturday, March 2nd. The first pitch goes out at 1:00 pm.
