SHUTTING OUT THE RUSTLERS

SHUTTING OUT THE RUSTLERS

The FC softball squad took on Golden West College at home Friday afternoon and shut out the Rustlers 3-0.

It was game two of the three-game OEC series since Thursday's game at Golden West was postponed due to wet field conditions. The date for the make-up game has yet to be determined.

Allyson Fuentes (4-1) was marvelous throwing a complete game shutout allowing just 4 hits, with no walks, and 7 strikeouts.

The first Fullerton run came in the bottom of the third when Haley Garcia laid down a nice bunt reaching first on a fielder's choice with two outs. The throw from the pitcher to the catcher was not in time as Alyssa Garcia hustled home.

FC got two more runs across in the fifth inning on a Veronica Moore single to center field that scored Jianna Lopez and a wild pitch that later allowed Haley Garcia to go home from third.

In total, the Hornets did their damage on 5 hits. Those hits were had by Haley Garcia, Veronica Moore, Serina Vue (double), Miranda Pozos, and Angelina Granado.

Up Next: The Hornets (8-2 overall, 2-0 OEC) play in a three-way at East LA College vs. the Huskies and Ventura College on Saturday, March 9th. Game times are at 2:00 pm (East LA) and 4:00 pm (Ventura).
