NO. 6 HORNETS SWEEP NO. 2 CYPRESS

The No. 6 Hornets complete a three-game sweep over No. 2 Cypress College taking games two (4-0) and three (7-6).

The sweep over the Chargers is the first time since the 2000 season, when head coach Crystal Aguirre played for the Hornets under Lisa Bassi.

On Thursday, game two of the Orange Empire Conference series was played at Cypress where FC blanked the Chargers 4-0. Pitcher Macy Brandl (6-1) was spotless through 7 innings with only 4 hits against, had 0 runs, 0 walks and 4 Ks.

FC put up the first run of the game in the fourth inning on Jianna Lopez's single that ran up the middle scoring Aylssa Garcia scored. Fullerton added another run in the fifth when Haley Garcia rocked a triple and then came across on a Cypress error scored on an error. The Hornets sealed in in the sixth with two more runs on an error and Coco Siono hit a single to center field that scored Jordan Elias.

In the third and final game of the sweep at home Friday, Fullerton pulled off a 7-6 walk-off win over the Chargers. It was Haley Garcia's single to left field that scored Jordan Elias that sealed the deal for the Hornets. Garcia had 3 hits on the day, including a triple with 3 RBI. Elias had 2 hits, 2 runs, and a RBI. Vernonica Moore contributed 2 hits and 1 RBI.

Macy Brandl started the game in the circle throwing 2.1 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, and had a walk. Allyson Fuentes earned the win going 5.2 innings with 3 hits, 1 run, and 2 walks. 

Up Next: Fullerton (13-2 overall, 5-0 OEC) will play a 3-way at home this Saturday, March 16th. Game one will be with Pasadena City College at 10:00 am, and game two will be against Bakersfield at 3:00 pm.
