BUDDY'S ALL-STAR CLASSIC

The FC women's basketball team played in L.A. Valley College's Buddy's All-Star Classic over the weekend winning one out of three games.

The tournament opened up on Thursday with Fullerton taking on Ventura College where the Hornets fell in a close one 48-44. Fullerton battled hard in every quarter keeping pace with a tough Pirate squad. Trailing 37-29 with 8 minutes left in the game, FC fought hard to get within three points (47-44) on a jumper by Janelle Ramos with 19 seconds left. Ventura split a pair of free throws at 2 seconds to ice the game. Destiny Goodloe led the Hornets in scoring with 16 points, and Janelle Ramos followed with 10.

On Friday, Fullerton played Long Beach City College suffering a rough 96-61 defeat. The lone bright spot for the Hornets was Goodloe, who managed 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a blocked shot. Ramos scored 11 points with 9 rebounds, and Celise Moreno put up 10 points.

Saturday was a good day for the Hornets as they earned a solid 68-37 win over San Bernardino Valley College. FC took a 15-4 lead early in the game on Goodloe's layup and never looked back. Goodloe broke out huge in this game going off for a career-high 34 points. The program's record for most points in a game is 40 set by Brenda Gallardo in 2003. Three Hornets scored 6 points in Bri Landeros, Maddie Snyder, and Janelle Ramos. Snyder also contributed 10 rebounds, while Jessica Jones chipped in with 9 boards. 

Up Next: Fullerton will host the Colleen Riley Winter Classic that will run Saturday, December 18th to Sunday, December 19th. The Hornets will open up against Cerritos College on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
