HORNETS FLY PAST RUSTLERS

Fullerton made it two wins in a row on Friday night after defeating Golden West College in Huntington Beach Friday night 85-54. 

The Hornet victory gives the team a season-sweep over the Rustlers. FC is now 10-10 overall with an Orange Empire Conference record of 3-2 (4th place). The GWC loss now gives the team an overall record of 10-7 with a winless OEC record of 0-4. 

Holding a 9-7 lead at 3:32 in the first quarter, Fullerton pushed it to 15-8 on a layup by Destiny Goodloe by 1:15. The Rustlers swung the momentum back their way by the end of the quarter going on a 5-1 mini-run. By the quarter's end FC held a 16-13 lead. 

Amanda Vasquez said "hello" to the second quarter with a 3-pointer that set off a 10-2 run that gave the Hornets a 26-15 lead by 7:01. Fullerton kept Golden West off balance throughout the quarter finishing off the half with a 30-21 advantage. 

The second half was all Fullerton as the Hornets refused to let up expanding their largest lead of 32 by the end of the fourth quarter. FC shot 52.5% from the floor to GWC's 31.7%. The Hornets also outrebounded the Rustlers 46-36, while scoring 40 of their points in the paint. 

Four FC starters scored in double digits with Janelle Ramos leading the pack with 22 points. Ramos also added 7 rebounds to her stat sheet. Destiny Goodloe scored 19 points, Bri Landeros put up 16, and Celise Moreno dropped in 12 points, respectively. Jocelyn Rea and Maddie Snyder both contributed 6 points each. 

Up Next: The Hornets (10-10 overall, 3-2 OEC) hit the road again tonight (Jan. 31) when they play No. 1 in SoCal Irvine Valley College (15-2, 4-0 OEC).
