TIGER BIT IN OVERTIME

TIGER BIT IN OVERTIME

The Hornets fell in overtime at home Tuesday night to Riverside City College 81-76.

The Hornet loss was the sixth consecutive and puts the team at 10-16 overall and at 3-8 in the Orange Empire Conference. The RCC win puts the Tigers at 12-12 overall and at 6-4 in the OEC.

It was a game where Fullerton had the first three quarters, but the fourth quarter saw the lead slip away. Entering the fourth with a 10-point lead (53-43), the Hornets slowly let the Tigers crawl back into the game tying it up 63-63 with 2 minutes left in regulation. As time expired, RCC had kept pace maintaining a 66-66 tie forcing overtime.

Riverside's Neiya Hamilton made a statement 3-pointer by to open up OT grabbing a 69-66 lead. FC's Shanise Ho answered the call hitting a 3-pointer of her own to tie it up. A couple of turnovers by the Hornets allowed RCC to gain a 76-71 edge with 58 seconds left. With the seconds ticking off the clock and no other choice but to foul, Fullerton could only watch as the Tigers hit their free throws to secure the come-from-behind upset.

Destiny Goodloe had a busy night slashing for 21 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Janelle Ramos matched her teammate with 21 points and added 8 rebounds with 5 blocks. Bri Landeros put up 10 points with 6 boards.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-16 overall, 3-8 OEC) will have their last game of the season at home against Santa Ana College on Thursday, February 17th at 6:00 pm. It will be Sophomore Night so please come by and honor the players to wrap up the 2021-22 season.
