COLLEEN RILEY HOLIDAY CROSSOVER SUCCESS!

In the 43rd Colleen Riley Holiday Crossover, the Hornets went undefeated beating Porterville and Santa Monica Colleges. 

In game one against Porterville on Saturday, Fullerton jumped ahead in the first quarter with a 9-4 lead that was capped by a jumper by Tia Jaquias (5:13). The Pirates tied the game up at 14-14 with two minutes left in the quarter and then took a 20-16 lead by the start of the second quarter. 

Porterville racked up the points taking a ten-point lead (26-16) by the eight-minute mark. FC slowly began to climb back in the game getting within four (36-32) by halftime. 

The Hornets made their move at 3:15 in the third quarter grabbing the lead at 44-42 thanks to a layin by Bri Landeros. FC finished out the quarter with a three-pointer by Jasmine Arnold giving the team a healthy 52-44 lead. 

The Hornets began the fourth with two-points from Jasmine Arnold's steal and drive to the basket giving Fullerton its largest lead of the game at 54-44. The Pirates made a strong push pulling within a point of FC (54-53) with 30-seconds left in the game. It was Tia Jaquias two free throws in the end that sealed the win for the Hornets. 

Tia Jaquias was the game scoring leader with 17 points. She also added 3, rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Toni Ballestero dropped in 13 points with 6 rebounds, while Jasmine Arnold chipped in with 10 points and 4 steals. Bri Landeros worked up 8 points and 10 rebounds. Angela Zendejas also brought down 10 rebounds. 

In the second game of the weekend, FC hosted Santa Monica College and defeated the Corsairs 73-39. The Hornets did not waste any time snagging a 13-6 by the middle of the first quarter. Although by halftime, the Corsairs pulled within 3 points (27-24). 

The third quarter was all Fullerton as Toni Ballestero's layup finished up a big 18-2 run (45-26) by the two-minute mark.  

FC did not let up in the fourth quarter, landing its largest lead of 38 points with two minutes left in regulation (61-31). 

Bri Landeros had a big day for the Hornets with a game-high of 21 points with 6 rebounds. Tia Jaquias locked down a double-double scoring 14 points and bringing down 11 boards. She also had 7 assists. Angela Zendejas dropped in 10 points and had 6 boards. Toni Ballestero had 8 points with 6 rebounds.
