LASERED IN THE HEART

LASERED IN THE HEART

The Hornets took on No. 16 in state Irvine Valley College at home Friday night, and despite a strong effort, lost a tough one 74-64.

Fullerton held the lead for the first three quarters of the game keeping IVC off balance with excellent defense, while converting shots (15-9 FC points from turnovers). The Hornets even took their largest lead of the game of 12 (43-31) at 3:50 mark of the third quarter, but the Lasers got hot from beyond the arch hitting 6 three-pointers. Flipping the game completely, Irvine Valley pushed its lead to 12 with a minute left in regulation. Fullerton struggled on offense in the fourth shooting 35% to IVC's 50% as the once promising shades of victory slipped away.

Tia Jaquias led the Hornets in scoring with 21 points. Bri Landeros put up 10 points with 5 rebounds, and Angela Zendejas scored 9 points with 8 rebounds. Jessica Jones jumped in with 7 points and 11 rebounds. Jasmine Arnold scored 6 points and had 6 steals.

Up Next: Fullerton (10-11 overall, 1-4 OEC) will travel to No. 14 Cypress College on Wednesday, January 25th for another Orange Empire Conference matchup. Tipoff is at 5:00 pm.
