SOPHOMORE NIGHT!

The Hornets showed out for Sophomore Night Thursday giving No. 15 in State Cypress College a scare before losing it 69-60.

The Fullerton College coaching staff honored four sophomores in Bri Landeros, Angela Zendejas, Jessica Jones, and Shanise Ho for their hard work and dedication the past two to three seasons. Family members and friends also came to see their final game in the blue, white and gold.

The Hornets gave the Chargers a run for their money playing excellent defense and coming back from a 23-point first-half deficit. Down 31-18 in the second quarter, Fullerton responded in the third quarter outscoring Cypress 25-14. By the 1:26 mark in the fourth quarter, FC's Jasmine Arnold knocked down a three-pointer to pull her team within three points at 63-60. Cypress, the No. 5 ranked team in Southern California, stood its ground and weathered the Hornet storm holding Fullerton scoreless for the remainder of the game.

As a team, Fullerton had 8 steals with Jasmine Arnold swiping 3, Bri Landeros 2, Tia Jaquias 1, Toni Ballestero 1, and Angela Zendejas 1. Zendejas also had 2 blocked shots, 6 boards, and scored with 14 points. Arnold led the team in scoring with 16 points and had 5 rebounds. Jaquias also added 11 points. Jessica Jones was the rebound leader for the Hornets with 8 boards and scored 6 points.
