SOPHOMORE DAY SALUTE

SOPHOMORE DAY SALUTE

Fullerton had its final home game of the season Wednesday night against No. 4 in state Orange Coast College. Despite a valiant effort, the Hornets lost to the conference champion Pirates 93-52.

The FC women's basketball coaching staff celebrated its sophomores before the big game. Jasmine Arnold, Toni Ballestero, Tia Jaquias, and Sarah Shaw were accompanied by family and friends as the staff honored them with flowers and gifts. These second-year players have dedicated the past two years to the program serving as head coach Dan Desmond's first recruiting class.

Fullerton did its best to shadow Orange Coast, however last season's state champions were too much as the Pirates ran away with the game early and never looked back.

Two sophomores led the Hornets in scoring in Jasmine Arnold and Sarah Shaw both scoring 11 points. Shaw also added 5 rebounds. First-year player Xochitl Hood put up 9 points with 8 boards, while sophomore Tia Jaquias dropped in 8 points with 3 assists.

Up Next: The Hornets (13-14 overall, 4-9 OEC) will finish off the regular season this Friday, February 23rd when they travel to Golden West College for an OEC showdown. Game time is at 7:00 pm.
