HOOD MAKES ALL-OEC SQUAD

First-year FC standout out player Xochitl Hood made her mark this season earning 1st Team All-Orange Empire Conference honors.

A Troy High School graduate, Hood led the Hornets in scoring with 14.8 ppg., rebounds at 7.8 rpg., and blocks at 1.1 bpg. She was second on the team in steals (2.4) and in assists (2.2). 

Winning its second straight OEC title, the Orange Coast College women's basketball team claimed a majority of the honors. OCC's Bridgette McIntyre was named the Orange Empire Conference MVP averaging 18.8 points per game serving as the champ's primary scorer. She led the conference in three-pointers hitting 43% (98-228) as well as free throw percentage (81.1%). McIntyer currently has 527 total points (2nd in OEC), is shooting 48% from the floor, had 163 rebounds, and 74 assists. The Offensive Player of the Year honor went to Orange Coast's Ashari Cassell who averaged 14.1 points a game, shot 45.7% from the floor, had 118 rebounds, 91 assists, and 53 steals. Earning Defensive Player of the Year, OCC's Alyssa Dreessen led the conference in total blocks with 48, had 57 steals, and 192 rebounds, while averaging 5.5 points a game. Sammy Doucette was named as the OEC Coach of the Year. This marks the second straight season in which Doucette has won the award in four seasons as the Pirate's head coach. Last season, she led the Pirates to a state title with an overall record of 32-1.
