7TH PLACE FINISH AT STATE

7TH PLACE FINISH AT STATE

The Hornets had a busy two days at the 3C2A State Championships at Hunter Ranch Golf Course in Paso Robles with FC placing 7th overall as a team.

Winning it all was College of the Canyons with a score of 340. The state runner-up was Mt. San Antonio College (674), and 15 shots ahead of Reedley (675) and Modesto (675). Reedley earned third place via a tiebreaker.

It is not an easy task qualifying as a team to the big dance, but FC managed to make it while competing with the best JUCO golfers in the state.

As for the individual title, Citrus College's Isabelle Olivas-Lowell took the crown after shooting the low round of the tournament on Monday with a 3-under 69 (the tournament's only under-par score). She then followed that up with a solid 79 for a two-day score of 148, one shot ahead of Shimoji and five shots ahead of third-place Kylie Lau of Mt. SAC.

Last season's state champion Cathilyn Lee shot 77 on day one under windy conditions and then shot 79 on day two for a share of 6th place with Lehapi Taungahihifo of College of the Desert.

Sophia Miller shot 84 and 83 for a tie at 16th place out of 60 competitors. Olivia Trivison (99, 90) and Rhea Sigur (94, 95) both shared the 45th spot, while Viddhi Sanghavi (102, 100) was 55th.

Joining that trio atop the All-State Team for 2023 include Glossner (155), Reedley College's Ethen Asequia (155) and Fullerton College's Cathilyn Lee (156).
