HARD-FOUGHT LOSS

The FC women's soccer squad took on first-place Santiago Canyon College on the road Tuesday falling in what was a physical game 2-1. 

It was a scoreless first half as both teams battled it out for field position. The Hawks got on the board first in 64th minutes on an unassisted goal by Nikki Marino. 

Roughly ten minutes later, SCC snuck a 2-0 lead on Shelia Sanchez's goal with the assist from Camryn Toole. 

In the 85th minute Izabelle Garcia was hit hard near the goal earning the shot at a penalty kick. Garcia kicked the ball past the Hawk's goalie for FC's lone goal. 

FC goalkeeper Victoria Saldana had a very active day in the box with 20 saves and 2 goals against in 90 minutes. 

Up Next: The Hornets (5-10 overall, 3-6 OEC) heads back out on the road this Friday, October 28th when they take on Golden West College at 3:00 pm.
