The Hornets traveled up to Antelope Valley College on Wednesday night for the first round of the Southern California Regionals and lost a tough one on two penalty kicks 3-1.
Going on as the No. 22 seed, Fullerton gave the No. 11 Marauders a good fight scoring the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute on a shot by Auburn Burnett. The assist was by Ashley Bautista.
Ten minutes later, AVC's Cassi James tied it up at 1 apiece with the assist coming from Kaylin Gonzalez.
Two penalty kicks ended the Hornets season with Cassi James hitting on both for the hat trick in the 46th and 79th minutes.
It was a solid season for Fullerton that faced some of the toughest competition in the state while playing in the strongest conference. Six out of eight colleges from the Orange Empire Conference made it into the SoCal Regionals with 3 of them seeding in the top ten.
