WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: BATTLE OF THE REGIONS

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: BATTLE OF THE REGIONS

The Lady Hornets opened up their season traveling to Bakersfield College last Friday competing in the Battle of the Regions meet.

It was a great first season meet with good weather and competing on the newly renovated stadium.

On the field side, freshman Sydney DeVilla places second in the discus with a season opener of 112' 6". Sydney tossed a 34' 9.5" for third place with the shot put. Sophomore, Angellee Vernon was fourth in the shot put for her best personal record throw of 34' 4.25". A good start for her season. She tossed the discus 92' 8" however, Angellee biggest improvement was in the hammer opening up with 115' 10" (seven foot PR from last year). The javelin threw 76' 1" for her and teammate, Sydney never throwing the javelin before had a 77' 7" effort. Sydney tried out the hammer, (another event she has never thrown) and opened up with a 101' 0" mark.

The middle distance ladies competed in the 800m, 1500m and 3K events for the track competition. The sprinters and hurdlers compete in these pre-season races in order to figure out where they are and how their off season training has prepared them going forward. As the season will unfolds, watch for good efforts by all of the Fullerton athletes.

Up Next: FC has a bye this week but will get back to it on Saturday, Febraury 22nd when they travel up for the Pasadena City Invitational.
