CERRITOS INVITE

CERRITOS INVITE

The Hornets competed at the the Cerritos College Invitational with positive results.

The 400 M relay finished in 2nd place (52.53) a snap off their previous time posted from Bakersfield. The ladies worked on clean exchanges and trusting their practice with their team members are transferring to a good race. Relay members were Jenna Pagan, Megan Brodowski, Carrin Hilliard, and Annaliese Powell.

The Hornets walked on to the track for their first races in other events for the season. Megan Brodowski ran her first 400M dash in 1:02.84 placing 6th overall with the other sprinters. Teammate Jenna Pagan ran the 100 M dash (13.73) and 200 M (28.93) as she had great starts with each of her races. Alex Turner was in the 200 M (28.09) and was seen working the turn in her race along with Jenna Pagan. Annaliese Powell  (1:12.61) and Carrin Hilliard 1:13.97 attempted their first 400 M H which was 100 M longer than what they were used to from high school competition. The ladies looked confident with their hurdling styles and finished 4th and 6th respectively overall.

Another first was in the 800 M run. Isis Cervantes (2:52.07) and Presli Dillon (2:55.70) worked the two laps trying to figure out their pace for where they are with their current training. This race is all about pacing and having enough to finish at the end of the second lap.

Malila Miranda competed in the hammer finishing in 6th place overall and giving herself a personal record (PR) tossing a 93' 8" mark. Off to a great start, Miranda is adjusting to this new event and the technique is starting to click.
