SEASON WRAP-UP

The Hornets had a great season weathering the pandemic and great achievements were made at the SoCal Regional Championships hosted by Moorpark College.  

The 2022 season ended on a high with personal bests and Hornets showing off their talent in their individual events. Overall, FC finished in 21stplace. It was a quality team of first-year athletes who dedicated themselves to achieve their very best every day with practice and most importantly had fun in the process. 

The 400-meter relay team (Powell, Brodowski, Hilliard, Turner) shaved off two seconds and missed two sports to enter the championship race.  The 1600-meter relay team (Brodowski, Hilliard, Powell, Turner) clipped three seconds off their best time.  

Megan Brodowski walked into regionals as the top-10 runner in the 400-meter dash and finished in 6th place with a time of 59.26 (her second-best race of the season).  She also ran her best 200-meter race of her season.  Alex Turner added the 400 meters dash and ran her second-best race of the season as well as give it her all in the relays. Annaliese Powell and Carrin Hilliard added the 100M H and 400M H races that gave them another chance to get a PB. Carrin Hilliard ran a PB in the 100M H as the other races were a snap from their best PB efforts. Krista Correa joined her teammates in both hurdle races and was a few seconds off her best times. 

In the throws, Victoria Saldana had a great season competing in the hammer, shot put and discus. Saldana had a PB in the shot put with a throw of 33' .5". Malila Miranda competed in the discus and threw within a few feet of her PB. 

"They came in confident and gave themselves that big throw they had been working on all season long in the OEC" replied Coach Bevec.   

Finishing fourth place in the OEC Championships was testament to what these young athletes could achieve this year.

For their efforts this season, the Hornet Coaching staff threw the team a pool party last Friday.
