SUCCESS AT OEC CHAMPIONSHIPS & SOCAL PRELIMS

The FC women's track & field team had great success the last two weekends placing 3rd overall at the Orange Empire Conference Championships (60 points) at Riverside City College, while many Hornets achieved goals at the Southern California Prelims held at Cerritos College.

Hailey Johnson qualified for the SoCal Regionals in 100M and 200M events with her best time of 12.97 in the 100M and a solid time of 26.82 in the 200M.

Sophia Nagao ran the 100M (12.85) and 200M (26.02) and hit her personal record in the 100M advancing her to the SoCal Regionals.

In the 800M, Sofia Gonzalez has improved her time in both the OEC and SoCal Prelim meets pushing her best time of 2:30.82 at the SoCal Prelims.

In the 400M Relay (Keiki Iuli, Hailey Johnson, Sofia Gonzalez, Sophia Nagao) ran their best race at OEC Championships with a finish of 51.67. The team locked down a top 12 finish at the SoCal Prelims.

The 1600M Relay team (Sofia Gonzalez, Haily Roberts, Hailey Johnson, Sophia Nagao) ran their best in SoCal prelims with a 13th place finish improving by 7 seconds in that meet.

Keiki Iuli qualified in long jump and triple jump from OEC to SoCal Prelims, and then qualified in SoCal finals in the triple jump after a 35' 1.25" finish. The last four meets she has been on a peaking streak with her jumps.

Layla Thornton qualified in all four throws into the SoCal prelims (SP, DT, JAV, and HT). At the OEC Championships, she threw her best in the hammer (121' 6") and has qualified for the SoCal finals in the javelin. Thornton has been throwing PR's the last two meets in the javelin this past Friday threw her best of 97'1" in the prelims.

Madyson Rodriquez qualified from OEC Championships to SoCal in the javelin ending her season with a PR throw of 87' 3".

Up Next: The SoCal Regional Championships will take place at Cerritos College on Friday, May 10th. The field events will start at 11:00 am with the track events beginning at 2:30 pm.
