ORANGE YOU GLAD TO SEE ME?

The No. 2 Hornets played their last Orange Empire Conference game at No. 3 Orange Coast College, and for the third time this season beat the Pirates 11-8.

In the opening quarter, Orange Coast drew first blood scoring the first goal, but the Hornets tied it up thanks to Nikki Salerno's goal (assist by Adrianna Wong).

The water churned evenly in the second quarter with both teams matching one another goal for goal. By halftime, the score was 4-4.

The second half began, and the Pirates took advantage, scoring two goals to go up 6-4. Jordyn Lughart and Sophia Martinez both answered the call, hitting on goals for FC to tie the game 6-6. Lughart and Wong continued the momentum for Fullerton punching in three more goals before the end of the third.

Holding a 9-6 lead at the start of the fourth quarter, OCC could only get two more goals past stingy FC goalie Alex Airitam, while the Hornet offense kept its production going with two more goals by Samantha Lechuga and Nikkie Salerno to settle the game.

The FC scoring was balanced with four players (Jordyn Lughart, Adrianna Wong, Nikki Salerno, and Amanda Ellerbroek) scoring 2 goals each. Wong also contributed 4 steals and 2 assists.

Hornet goalie Alex Airitam played a strong game with 6 steals and 3 assists, while fending the Pirate offense off with 10 saves.

Up Next: No. 2 Fullerton (23-2 overall, 4-1 OEC) will host Whittier College and Concordia this Friday, October 28th at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. On Saturday, FC will also host Pomona College and Cal Lutheran at 9:00 am and 2:15 pm.
