CLOSE CALL VS. CYPRESS

CLOSE CALL VS. CYPRESS

The FC women's water polo team battled it out with district-rival Cypress College on the road Wednesday and edged past the Chargers 9-8.

Fullerton was down early in this Orange Empire Conference match as Cypress came in hot with 3-1 lead in after the first quarter. Unphased, the Hornets clapped back with 4 unanswered goals to take a 5-3 advantage by the middle of the second quarter, but the Chargers took over again claiming a 6-5 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, the two teams matched one another goal for goal scoring two apiece. Heading into the fourth, the Hornets were down 8-7, however the FC defense stepped up holding the Chargers scoreless for the rest of the game. Two late goals by Macayle Franco proved to be the difference-makers as Fullerton left Cypress with the victory.

FC goalies Candace Tezak and Brisela Robinson were both solid as Tezak had 3 saves and Robinson had 2 of her own.

Up Next: The Hornets (12-8 overall, 2-2 OEC) will host Orange Coast College for another OEC matchup on Wednesday, October 18th. Game time is at 4:00 pm.
