CLOSE LOSS FOR THE OEC & HOME OPENER

The Hornets had their home and Orange Empire Conference opener on Wednesday afternoon and lost a close one to Saddleback College 15-12.

Saddleback ripped off three straight goals in the first quarter, but Kirsten Grammer and Kayla Arias dropped in goals for Fullerton for a 3-2 score to end first quarter. The Hornets took off on a 3-1 tear in the second quarter taking a 7-5 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was a battle with both teams matching one another shot for shot. Grammer tossed in a shot giving the Hornets a 9-8 lead, but Saddleback's Lilian wang scored a goal with six seconds left in the quarter to tie it up 9-9. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats scored three goals in a row for a 12-9 lead. FC tried is best to get back into the game with goals by Elyse Weske and Kaylee Rojas, but with time running out the Hornets did not have enough firepower.

Elyse Weske led the way for Fullerton scoring 4 goals, while Kirsten Grammer and Macayle Franco both scored 2 goals apiece. 

Up Next: Fullerton (2-3 overall) will play this Friday, September 13th when the travel down south to the Orange Coast College Tournament this Friday. FC will play Saddleback College again at 11:15 am and then later in the day play Santa Barbara City College at 2:30 pm.
