BASEBALL: A FIELD OF ERRORS

BASEBALL: A FIELD OF ERRORS

A day after being named the #1 team in Southern California, the Hornets came out flat at home on Tuesday committing 5 errors before falling to #10 Orange Coast College 5-3.

The Pirates put up two runs in the first inning on one hit. Robert Longtree scored on a passed ball, and Tommy Bell scored on a FC throwing error.

In the top second, OCC struck again on a Nick Grimes single to left center scoring James McLellan for the only earned run on the day.

Fullerton got back in the game in the bottom second when Bill Austin doubled to left field scoring Trent Hammond and Oscar Heredia.

In the third, the Hornets tied the game up at 3 a piece on a single by Marco Rivera to the left side of the field allowing Laine Huffman to cross the plate.

The FC errors continued to haunt as Orange Coast scored the final two unearned runs of the game in the fifth and seventh innings.

Hornet starter Dylan Prohoroff (4-1) took his first loss of the season with a fantastic effort going seven innings on 5 hits, 1 earned run, and 9 K's. RP Nico Castaneda threw two hitless innings with a strikeout.

Up Next: Fullerton (12-4, 2-1) will try and pick it back up when they host #3 Santa Ana College this Thursday, March 5th at 2:00 pm.
