BASEBALL: HORNET'S HOT START

The Hornets opened up their season with great success over the weekend at the Bakersfield College Tournament sweeping through their opponents.

On Friday, FC got the best of Moorpark College 17-6. Sophomore pitcher Chris Sanchez grabbed the win going 5.2 innings with 6 strikeouts. Freshman Aaron Lizarraga was 4-6 at the plate with 3 doubles and 5 RBI.

The Hornets took on their host Bakersfield College on Saturday and beat the Renegades in extra innings 4-3. Sophomore starting pitcher Logan Lannon went 5 innings had 6 strikeouts with 2 earned runs against. Freshman Garrett Molnar earned the win putting in 2.2 innings of work. Molnar had 2 K's and no hits against. Sophomore Joey Parente was 4-5 with a run scored. Sophomore Todd Yost was 2-5 with a RBI.

In their final game of the tournament on Sunday, Fullerton knocked off Ventura College 10-5. Sophomore Jacob Channel got the win going 4 innings with 3 strikeouts and no runs against. Sophomore Austin Case hit a home run, and Lizarraga went 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Freshman Chase Kerr went 2-5 with 1 run and 4 RBI.

Up Next: The Hornets (3-0 overall) will have their home opener tomorrow (1-31-17) at 2:00 pm against Grossmont College. Come on out and see FC President Dr. Greg Schulz throw out the first pitch. Go Hornets!
